BMW R1300 GS Adv: imminent debut and everything you need to know

The wait for the BMW R1300 GS Adv is finally over. Homologated from 31 May 2024, the new motorcycle is ready to enter the market, bringing with it a series of technical improvements and innovations compared to the previous model. MOTORRAD examined the main features of the new GSA, comparing it with the standard BMW R1300 GS and the previous BMW R1250 GS Adventure.

Approval and News

The BMW R1300 GS Adventure, abbreviated to GSA, has been officially homologated in Switzerland and introduced with a new ASA (Automatic Shift Assistant) automatic transmission. This innovation allows for smooth, seamless gear changes, enhancing the driving experience. Although complete technical data are not yet available, those provided for the homologation reveal significant differences compared to the R1300 GS.

Powerful Performance

The new BMW R1300 GS Adv maintains maximum power of 145 HP (107 kW) at 7,750 rpm, with a maximum torque of 149 Nm at 6,500 rpm. These specifications make it a powerful and high-performance motorbike, capable of tackling any terrain with ease. However, the GSA is approved for a top speed of 220 km/h, slightly lower than the R1300 GS. Compared to the R 1250 GS Adventure, the new 1300 GSA offers 9 more HP, 6 Nm of additional torque and a 7 km/h higher top speed.

Weight and Tank

A significant aspect of the new GSA is its weight. With an increase of 21 kg compared to the R 1300 GS, the GSA reaches a total weight of 271 kg, ready to ride. This also makes it 3 kg heavier than the R 1250 GSA. The tank volume, although not specified, is expected to be larger than the R 1300 GS, similar to the 30 liters of the 1250 GSA. Load capacity has also increased, with the new GSA capable of carrying up to 485kg, 20kg more than the R 1300 GS.

Dimensions and Height

The BMW R1300 GS Adv is slightly shorter than the R 1300 GS, with an overall length of 2,208 mm, 4 mm less than the GS and 62 mm less than the 1250 GSA. However, the height is significantly increased, reaching between 1,538 and 1,588 mm, depending on the windshield. This increase in height suggests a redesigned front end and a sporty setup with 20mm more spring travel.

Tires and Wheels

Unlike other large travel enduros, the new BMW R1300 GS Adv does not adopt a 21-inch front wheel. Instead, it keeps the familiar wheel-tire combination of 120/70 R19 at the front and 170/60 R17 at the rear, with no options for other tires.

Launch and Price

With homologation completed, the new BMW R1300 GS Adv will likely be presented and available for purchase from late summer or early autumn 2024. It could make its debut at the BMW Motorrad Days in Garmisch in July, and will certainly be available as a 2025 model. The expected price for the new 1300 GSA will be above 20,000 euros, considering that the BMW R1300 GS Adv currently starts at 19,950 euros.

The BMW R1300 GS Adv promises to be an exceptional motorcycle, combining power, robustness and technological innovations to offer an unprecedented riding experience. All we have to do is wait for its arrival on the roads to discover its full potential.

The BMW R1300 GS Adv is undoubtedly one of the most anticipated motorcycles of 2023. This model promises to further raise the bar for adventure motorcycles, focusing on technical innovations, cutting-edge design, and unparalleled power. But what makes this bike so special and why everyone talks about it? Let's find out together.

When talking about the BMW R1300 GS Adv, one cannot help but mention the German precision engineering that characterizes every component. The new version is equipped with a more powerful engine which not only improves performance but also ensures a smoother driving experience. The engine, with an enlarged displacement of 1300cc, promises remarkable torque and rapid acceleration, making it ideal for both long excursions and adventures in rough terrain.

Another feature that distinguishes the BMW R1300 GS Adv is its robust and versatile design. Every aspect of the motorcycle is designed to offer maximum comfort and safety to the rider, and the advanced ergonomics ensure that you can ride for hours without getting tired. The renewed frame, lighter and more resistant, allows greater maneuverability without compromising stability.

Technology is another strong point of the new BMW R1300 GS Adv. Equipped with the latest driver assistance systems and a color TFT display, it offers an interactive and customizable experience. Thanks to the sophisticated integrated navigation system and numerous connectivity options, pilots can always stay connected to the outside world, even in the most remote areas.

Finally, a mention should be made of the load capacity and the range of accessories available. The BMW R1300 GS Adv is designed with adventurous travelers in mind who need to carry everything they need with them. With various easily installable luggage racks and bags, this model offers practical solutions for every type of trip.

In conclusion, the BMW R1300 GS Adv represents a real evolution in the world of adventure motorcycles. With its mix of power, advanced technology, and intuitive design, it promises to be an ideal choice for those looking for an uncompromising driving experience.
