Approval of the BMW R1300 GS Adventure
The BMW R1300 GS Adventure (GSA) obtained homologation on May 31, 2024. The new model is included in the Swiss approval documents, as is the version with the new ASA (Automatic Shift Assistant) automatic gearbox. Although the full technical specifications are not yet available, data relevant for homologation indicate some differences compared to the R1300 GS.
Performance and Specifications
The BMW R1300 GS Adventure maintains the main features of the 1300 boxer. It has a maximum power of 145 HP (107 kW) at 7,750 rpm and a maximum torque of 149 Nm at 6,500 rpm. The tank volume is not yet known, but it is speculated that it could be larger than the R1300 GS, which has around 29 litres. The new GSA can carry 20 kilos more than the R1300 GS, with a maximum load of 485 kilos.
Height and Design
The new BMW R1300 GS Adventure is slightly shorter than the R1300 GS, with a total length of 2,208 millimetres. However, it is significantly taller, with a maximum height of between 1,538 and 1,588 millimetres, depending on the windshield. These data suggest a completely new front end and a sporty setup with increased suspension travel.
Wheels and Tires
Unlike other large travel enduros, such as the Triumph Tiger 1200 or the KTM 1290 Super Adventure R, the new BMW R 1300 GS Adventure will not be equipped with a 21-inch front wheel. Homologation data shows the familiar wheel and tire combination: 120/70 R19 at the front and 170/60 R17 at the rear.
Availability and Price
With the homologation which took place on May 31, 2024, the new BMW R1300 GS Adventure will be available for road circulation. It will be offered as a model year 2025 and the price will likely be higher than that of the R1250 GS Adventure, currently starting at 19,950 euros. It is reasonable to expect that the price of the new 1300 GSA will exceed 20,000 euros.
